| 507688 | 2006-12-22 07:58:00 | As you say, I may have some spare time, but then... Starting with a bare W2k is a good idea, but I have a nice slipstreamed CD with W2k + SP3, which went fine on the old computer, (And I mean old, that nice BX chipset), so I'll use that. The new MB is a Gigabyte, GA-M51GM, and for some reason, one of the drivers needed SP4 as I remember, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered, just stayed with Sp3. Making an image of the fresh installation is a good idea. A lot quicker to restore than a new install. So, it looks like back to square one, (or SP3) and try DUN on that. I have a gut feeling it will work properly. Strange that you had all that trouble with XP SP2 and the LAN, modem business. SP2 shouldn't be that buggy? |
