2006-12-20 06:53:00 | Oh yeah did anyone bought stuff from ETC Computers?I've used the local ETC branch many times. They are very good to deal with including after sales support. | Jen (38) | |
2006-12-20 06:58:00 | i just threw that in incase you were infact after gaming performance (in which case $250 will suffice for the student gamers like myself) you should see the "gaming" systems on TM and Dell advertisements - fx5600 or worse with less the 256MB ram - and people actually buy them:confused: I can't actually get a card from TM. When I bid the other bidders always come in just seems like out of luck for me. If you're saying PCIE yes, you can get a card for around $300 but that's for PCIE not AGP. I guess those card can statisfy your gaming. What's the difference between 8800GTX with $300 card? I've used the local ETC branch many times. They are very good to deal with including after sales support. Is their stuff cheap? And PCOnline is the same with ETC?

2006-12-20 07:11:00 | Is their stuff cheap? And PCOnline is the same with ETC?Never used PC Online. I've found ETC to be reasonable with their prices, but I guess it depends on what you are buying. I'd much rather pay a few more dollars and get it from somewhere reliable and professional with how they deal with customers. | Jen (38) | |
2006-12-20 07:13:00 | Oh yeah did anyone bought stuff from ETC Computers? Yep, quite often over the years, never a problem. (They were an easy stroll from home.) Any replacements needed were instantaneous, no hassle whatsoever.

2006-12-20 10:17:00 | What's the difference between 8800GTX with $300 card? You can't be serious!!?? the 8800GTX is A_LOT_MORE_POWERFUL than ANY other single card out there at this point in time in most test areas | The_End_Of_Reality (334) | |
2006-12-20 10:51:00 | I have dealt with them for over two years and have had no problem with service. However several times RAM i have got from them is DOA - but maybe i cant expect more for the dirt cheap price. | noone (22) | |
2006-12-20 12:17:00 | Same here, I've bought stuff from them for quite a while and haven't had any major problems or anything... but there have been a couple of little problems and their customer service isn't as good as it could be. Did get a DOA ram stick too but they did send me a new one, so that was OK. Overall I'm happy with my purchases from them .. but If I was to buy anything expensive I would probably go and pick it up.

2006-12-20 18:42:00 | Which ETC are we talking about? I've been in the New Lynn one. Seems nice enough. Did have to take a friends ram back as it died, there was no hassle getting a replacement but I think I know why it died - as he got the replacement, he went into the back, picked up the naked ram by holding his fingers all over the chips, walked back out across the carpet and then stuck it in an anti-static bag. When I asked for another one that hadn't been touched, he told me static isn't a problem and it only kills things if you touch the gold connector part.......hmmmmmmmm. But there was no problem getting stuff under warranty with them. Unlike SuperCheap....

2006-12-20 19:44:00 | Well, its been nearly 2 weeks since i paid supercheap my money and i've stll heard nothing. They're not responding to the phone and they have not replied to my e-mails!!! On a better note, i ordered another drive from Ascent on Monday and it arrived yesrterday afternoon. I think i will be using Ascent in future. I am now joining the ranks of people to urge others not to use Supercheap, they're pretty rubbish:groan:
