| 507697 | 2006-12-18 12:57:00 | Hey guys, I want to build a webpage to serve patches and other files to users on my LAN, but I'm not sure exactly how one should go about it. I think what I want is an intranet page... I need it to be automatically displayed whenever users open the browser. Would anyone be able to explain how to do this, or link to a tutorial which explains it? Thanks in advance, Logan. |

Create a webpage, make it the homepage in the others' browsers, and link your files, patches etc to wherever you've stored them. Well, that is a possible option, but what I've seen before is a page that resides on an intranet server and is automatically accessed as part of using the network. For example, whenever you connect to a Telecom Hot Spot, the browser is automatically directed to Telecom's Login/Payment screen. I want to set up a similar option for my LAN as some of my users are too simplistic to setup the home page themselves. If it's of any relevance to a potential solution; all my computers are running Windows rather than Linux. IIS will be the web-server technology of choice, at this point. Cheers, Logan. |
