507710 2006-12-18 18:41:00 Yesterday I was on the PCWise website but could not see the 'closed lock' icon at the bottom of Firefox when making a purchase. The 'closed lock' indicates that the transaction is secure. I sent an email to the head of PCWise telling him about this and this is his reply:

"The PCWise site is very secure. I have double-checked it just now and all seems to be fine. Apart from a secure shopping session secured and encrypted by “thawte”, the credit card transaction is also secured by DPS."

Question: if the 'closed lock' icon does not appear (Firefox 1.5.0.8) does this mean the transaction is NOT secure? Or does the presence of the 'closed lock' only indicate security (its absence not equating with INsecurity)?

Refer to: www.pcwise.co.nz

BTW, they had a great deal on a 1 Gb SD card, high speed 150x, error correcting. Prices sure have dropped in the last year.

507711 2006-12-18 19:33:00 That is not good enough. Even though there is a link to the Thawte certificate on the site there is no https showing in web address and padlock is missing as well.
If they want their customers to feel secure using their site they should sort it out.

507712 2006-12-18 21:36:00 One more thing I have noiticed in Firefox is that when you are on a secure site, the URL space is all yellow or gold in color.

White URL bar = no security!

I have heard this happens when you are zombied....but it's never happened to me...just a thought!

Woosh has a similar problem but no-one cared until I phoned tech support. I didn't put my credit card number in, gave it to customer services.
