508407 2007-04-11 07:36:00 Im on Ihug Broadband (Hamilton) and have been experiencing constant disconnects for the last 2 weeks. Ive got a D-Link DSL502T. I would probably disconnect on average every 10ish minutes, its absolutely fustrating!! Never had a problem before that.

i mean you surf a webpage and not even 2 pages later it hangs, and sure enough the damn adsl light on the router is flashing :(

508408 2007-04-11 22:19:00 Yep - all ur symptoms are pointing to the same thing, I confirmed with an old teammate at telecom that in fact the ALCATEL ASAMS dont have the power to perform as compared to the NOKIA DSLAMS - litte birdy told me the ALCATEL range is absolute krud - so far as disconnects, timeouts, loss of packets, disconnected downloads, slow downloads - overheating of the cards, its a complete nightmare. The techs want the Alcatel's to be trashed !.

The Nokia DSLAMS on the other hand are competent pieces of equipment that are designed to handle almost anything in the ADSL1 range.

Ask ur ISP to INSTRUCT TELECOM to put u on to a NOKIA DSLAM at the exchange. You should find you'll have a much better connection.
