508345 2006-12-21 00:53:00 Wasn't that felix thing something nasty?? Like spyware or something?

I remember seeing, or hearing about it ages ago.

It was some kind of cat animation thing.

I recall a thing called "Bonzi Buddy" which apparently had adware in it or something...

I actually had over 1400 tasks running once when the USB hot plug daemon lost the plot and spewed processes ...

508352 2006-12-21 03:45:00 It would seem, from the replies, that the number of processes running does not affect the operating speed of the computer. PJ Poppa John (284)
508353 2006-12-21 03:49:00 Hi All..... My computer has 33 running processes, Maryann has 38. Both using XP Home. How do we bring up a list of these so that we can see what is happening? Thanks. PJ

Are you worried you have too many running? Or maybe I should say were you worried as your PC is rather stingy compared to the others on here. :p

I have 36 running at the moment with half a dozen apps running along with Opera.

It does but if the machine is grunty enough to handle it there won't be too much of a problem generally, unless you want to run a very lean and mean machine. The type of processes running is just as important. Take Nortons for example - you have read untold times on here how much of a resource hog that is.

HijackThis is a good tool for people to analyse what processes should and shouldn't be running.
