2007-04-03 06:40:00 | 1) Is anyone else experiencing this? Yes 2) If so who is your provider? Xnet (had the prob with Xtra too, so isp is not a factor) 3) When did it start? Between 1 and 3 months ago 4) Where are you? Christchurch Any results or improvements? Well initially we were getting disconnected 10-50 times a day...we got Xtra to monitor this and they thought this was "acceptable". About 2 weeks ago the problem has changed so that now every time a phone is picked up / hung up it disconnects me. Whether it's related or not anymore I don't know.

2007-04-04 02:21:00 | Hi guys Now if you look at my previous posts regarding problems with the wireless routers - this is precisely the problem I had as well . Xtra Adventure 10Gig plan, tried all routers, excluding Linksys . I want to know - does Linksys show the same problems because I am looking at either Linksys wireless or a cable for the wife's lappie . sarel

2007-04-04 04:42:00 | I think Orcon are pulling the wool over your eyes. The Nokia DSLAMs are obsolete and if the problem was the Alcatel DSLAM - why isn't 90 % of the rest of us having the same problem ? interesting today we were placed on the NOKIA DSLAM. we have connected and havent dropped a beat. As we said before a number of factors have to come in to play for the frequent disconnects to happen and they can happen to any router, to give u an idea of our frustration, 1208 disconnects in 43 business days - averaging 28 disconnects per day. It is not Orcon that is the problem - if anything - they were the shining bright solution to the Gilligans Island rejects working at Telecom who were about as useful as central locking for your bathroom shower. Will, Janine, Beren, Rolando at Orcon ! Shout outs to you guys for the unwavering support and research you put in to this. Connected to the NOKIA DSLAM today - SOLID INTERNET !!!!! guess that says it all really - today's games played....... NOKIA 1 ALCATEL 0 ORCON 1 DECIBEL 0 Moral of the story - get the isp ur with to INSTRUCT Telescum to set u up on the NOKIA DSLAM's as the ALCATELS are a pile of CRAP - anyone wanting advise on this call me here at work - Rick@021-214-3383

2007-04-05 01:35:00 | I'm glad that you are happy, MagnumMac, BUT, I still don't believe that the answer is as simple as you make out - there has to be something more to it otherwise that problem would be a lot more widespread. | decibel (11645) | |
2007-04-05 03:33:00 | Better move fast. "Nokia Siemens Networks has confirmed that it is terminating Nokia's DSLAM product line, with the Siemens DSLAMs winning the product rationalization battle rather easily given their newer-generation technology and much greater market traction." Even so Nokia Siemens Network's market share is tiny compared with AlcatelLucent.

Well that doesnt surprise me - why would telecom want to invest in something that is actually going to do the job well - as i sit here writing this, we have now had uptime of more than 24hrs - amazingly the much vaunted alcatel couldnt do the job and along comes nokia and lo and behold we have no problems. Along with producing exceptional cellphones it appears that nokia are second to none when it comes to building DSLAM's - that acutally work exceptionally and cellphones that are second to none, I mean really, just look at the french built equipment, Alcatel, wonderful stuff - personally i wouldnt use it as an anchor on a small boat much less what its designed for in NZ exchanges. |

2007-04-10 23:02:00 | Well as i sit here reviewing what we went thru - we have now had uptime of exactly 7 days with not one disconnection in that time, finally it appears the DG834G has settled down thanks to the nokia DSLAM:thumbs: | MagnumMac (11644) | |
2007-04-11 04:01:00 | Go to Netgears website and get the most recent firmware for the DG834. You can now choose what modulation to choose. | bob_doe_nz (92) | |
2007-04-11 04:09:00 | I also had severe disconnection problems when I joined ihug i was on for 3 min and off for 2 for days - getting broadband was equally as frustrating - finally after days of it I complained bitterly and they changed the settings from their end try complaining, bitterly and daily if not resovled :badpc:

2007-04-11 04:13:00 | opps that didn't make sense, what I meant to say was I was on for 3 min and off for 2 min for days no one complains that much in NZzzzzzzzzland so nothing much gets done, I complained and complalined and complained and made a real nucience of myself, mainly because I was angry that after buying a new computer HP PS (piece of ****e) i discovered it had no dial up modem installed so was forced to go to broadband, ( i love it now) and after having to wait 3 weeks for modem to arrive, was off more than it was on....so complain daily untill service is fixed, + tell them that you will not pay for the time you had no service
