| 508254 | 2006-12-20 08:53:00 | So this problem I am having is sort of confusing for me. Last year, nearly 1 year ago, my motherboard burnt out. So, I bought a new asus. not sure what model, the box is in a closet somewhere in my house. Anyways, I have a radeon 9200 SE graphics card working right now. Plus a secondary. I went to update it because I'm trying to get the best performance out of it for playing my games. It prompted a restart, so I did, and it crashed to good ol' bluescreen. Now, last time it did this was because the person I live with turned both cards on, so the main and the secondary, which crashed it as well. One question is why did it do this when I tried to update it? is there another way of updating it manually? like just go download the required files elsewhere? Second question is how can I optimize my video card? I understand I can just buy a new one, but I'd rather hold off on that for a while because christmas and all. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance. | Christoem (11637) | ||

To me, (not being a pro tech) I imagine it could only cause conflicts, unless you're running identical cards under SLI. Best thing I can suggest is to remove one. Uninstall the drivers first. As for optimising... try Tweak Guides (http://www.tweakguides.com/) for some very comprehensive help. |

(if it is what you are doing) |

| 508257 | 2006-12-21 21:18:00 | Ok, I'll post my specs first. Processor(s): 2 3.20ghz pentium 4 CPU 512 MB of ram. my graphics card is a radeon 9200, the other one is a secondary. it was there when I installed it. I think it's a backup type thing, but that doesn't make too much sense to me because when I use the secondary it can't run ****. I got my computer to stop crashing, but I had to rollback before the update. Also, I may have a pci card, I'm not sure how to tell if I do. In terms of graphics cards all I got turned on is the radeon 9200, and that and the secondary are the only two that appear on the list under device manager. |

| 508258 | 2006-12-21 21:44:00 | So, I bought a new asus. not sure what model, the box is in a closet somewhere in my house. 1. Open closet. 2. Find box. 3. Read Model name off box. (post here, so we can be enlightened too) 4. Open box. 5. Take out manual. 6. Read manual. No offense intended...just a bit of humour.:D But seriously, I'd have the manual on hand for this one ;) Your origianal vga may be onboard, that can be nasty when it comes to having another installed. But in most cases conflicts can be overcome with the right settings....and for those, one source is your manual. |

| 508260 | 2006-12-21 22:19:00 | K, thanks. So it's an "Asus" motherboard and it has an intel 865G series chip. Wot's the actual model of the m/b? |

| 508262 | 2006-12-21 22:48:00 | Hmmm...soz.."asus m504" turns up sqwat for me atm. Perhaps you could make sure by checking the post screen...(you can use the "pause/break" key on the keyboard to halt the screen when it displays the bois info...if you're quick. All Asus BIOS ID numbers at the top of the screen, just above where the system memory count occurs, contain # 401A0 - XXXX. The A0 indicates ASUS as the manufacturer the four digits following the dash indicates the BIOS revision level. Thus it is easy to identify whether or not you have the latest BIOS version or not. At the bottom of the same screen you have more information, in the following order; A date, which is the date of the motherboard manufacture, then the Chipset used, the model of ASUS motherboard and finally the revision of the motherboard. (Source: www.kva.kursk.ru ) If you have the manual does it offer vga setting advise? |

| 508263 | 2006-12-21 23:32:00 | I'm guessing that this secondary card is some kind of onboard video adapter ... which would explain why "it can't run ****." Disabling It would probably be the most effective way of fixing this problem, but I think more information may be needed first |
