2006-12-24 00:34:00 | My partner has been trying to read news off the www.stuff.co.nz site for a day or so now. Each time, she gets in fine to the main site. When clicking on a news article, it starts to load, and then hangs. Every time, there is no choice but to reboot manually. I'm on a network with her, and she just disappears. I've tried a few other "graphic/data" intensive sites, and they're loading okay, bearing in mind we're sharing a dialup connection. She is using an older P2 with Win98SE and 256mg ram. Anybody think of anything that could fix this up?

2006-12-24 01:26:00 | She's using FireFox 2.0.0.1, and Explorer 7. Maybe it's just the older PC can't handle it? | the_bogan (9949) | |

2006-12-24 01:56:00 | ?? i thought explorer 7 was 2k/XP only ? Aah, you're right, that's my PC. She's just plain old explorer 6. I'll try disabling them once she's done with the PC. Thanks for the help, and pardons for my mistake.

2006-12-24 08:09:00 | Just run with Firefox buy itself(and "ditch" Internet Exploder). I'm with FF2.0.1 and have had no troubles with the new stuff site or the new Herald site. You might also want to scan with Adaware and spybot just in case. | winmacguy (3367) | |
2006-12-25 05:56:00 | try using the adblock & flashblock extensions - flash can sometimes cause problems & adblock just makes websites readable without all the ads flashing at you. | Greven (91) | |
