| 508883 | 2006-12-24 02:02:00 | At the moment Xtra Go Large is basically 256k unless all you do is browse national sites. | yzhu (9783) | ||
| 508884 | 2006-12-30 08:38:00 | OK, this is getting worse. I thought maybe a human at Xtra had read my grumble and flicked a switch to make all sweetness and light, but no. Was trundling along nicely this evening when all of a sudden the sites I could access are NZCity and PF1... any page I can get on those (yes, I know some say they are all you need!), but anything else is dead as a dodo. I had the thought that maybe PF1 and NZCity are hosted in NZ and other sites that I can't get to are overseas, but not sure about that. Edit: actually, I just read that and suddenly realised- what service? It's becoming crap any way I look at it. Resetting the router won't work, but rebooting the comp will which is a bit strange I think and I'm stumped. Also a bit worried that when I move house next month they are gonna say to me "Sorry, the Adventure plan no longer exists... your only option is Go Large" I will be pissed if they force me to 'downgrade the service' for the same amount of money. Now off to reboot my box :( |

Pretty much guarantee that'll be the case. I've never said this before and I may never say this again... but those of you who have weird and wonderful problems that may or may not be attributed to routers and switches etc... why not get an el-cheapo (25 bucks) internal adsl modem to use as a backup device for your connectivity. And just out of curiosity... where ya moving to? |

| 508887 | 2006-12-30 21:07:00 | ... If they know Go Large is very troublesome, are they doing anything about it? Unfortunately, it seems that Telecom is not doing (or not going to do???) anything about it as at to-date. :( I phoned and emailed their tech help desk numerous times, but only getting a standard automatic email reply! I requested to change back to my previous plan and somehow, the guy at their helpdesk (after 5 min of consultation with his boss) obliged to revert back to my old 5 GB explorer calling plan. I don't really know that there is such a plan called "Explorer Calling"? The download speed is marginally faster than "GO LARGE" but it is certainly much more stable and consistant. |
