509403 2006-12-25 04:25:00 Hi
I have just put a KINGSTON DUAL CHANNEL 2Gb DDR2 667 DIMM KIT into my
DP965LT mobo.
The board would not boot or do any thing.
If I remove the second stick I can boot the mobo and i was able to install Win2000 no problems.
Reinstalled second stick...no boot.
Removed good stick and put sus one in it's place...no boot.
Place good stick in second slot...no boot.
Put good one back in first slot be itself...good boot up and Win2000 runs fine.
Here is a pic so you can see the two slots I have been useing...the blue ones.

So any ideas ...???
Is there a way to confirm that one Ram stick is bad..they were brought together as a kit.
Thanks
Richard

509404 2006-12-25 05:17:00 Hi. Make sure that your computer motherboard supports the RAM. That has once happened to my friend's new computer when his computer refused to boot due to RAM incompatibility issue.

Cheers :)

509405 2006-12-25 05:24:00 Hi
I have checked the Intel site and the specs on the Kingston Ram are supported.PLUS if one stick works then the other should.
Thanks

509406 2006-12-25 05:45:00 Have you tried putting them in the other two slots (the black ones)? And make sure they are fitted firmly in the slots. developer (4447)

Hi
I thought that you had to always have the first slot full...that would be the first blue slot.
But I will try them in the other slots.
I know that they are fitted OK as one of them worked.
Thanks

509408 2006-12-27 09:21:00 try putting the first one in blue slot and second one in the other blue slot as they are duel slots which makes it faster cant remember what it called and if not try putting the second stick in first slot and if not it must be faulty ram rawkus1020 (9720)

509410 2006-12-28 20:08:00 Hi
Problem solved !!!
It was caused by myself not having the ram sticks seated properly.
They sure felt seated but they were not.
It is surprising the amount of force that is needed to seat them properly but you sure know when they are.
So now I have 2GB of ram running in Dual channel mode.
Thanks for everybody's help.
Thanks
Richard

509411 2006-12-28 22:52:00 That's why I asked you to make sure they are fitted firmly. The one on the right in your picture does not seem to be fitted properly. developer (4447)
