508966 2006-12-23 18:51:00 What? Under Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager - Sound does it show a driver(s) for your sound card? If not or there is a yellow excalamation mark then you will need to reinstall the driver. pctek (84)
508967 2006-12-23 23:31:00 Under computer management, there is an exclamation mark under an " unknown device".
I have never seen this before, now when I select properties for that item it gives me some options, under driver I see, I can click on driver details if I do so, all I get is " not drivers are required or loaded..." the other options I don't want to click until I know what this is.
Can you explain to me please.

508968 2006-12-24 02:39:00 Find out what the brand/model of your motherboard is..

What else in the device manager has a ! beside it? Anything else?

508969 2006-12-24 05:00:00 Wow, it is so good to hear from you, first tahnk you for your help with my previous issue.
I think I only made things worst I took my chances and Computer management/services an applications, deleted that now has not sound at all.
Under Sounds and Audio devices/properties/volume: No audio Device
what do you think?:(

508970 2006-12-24 05:22:00 I would get Belarc Advisor (www.belarc.com)

Install it run it, and see what it brings up for the brand/model of your motherboard.

Post what it says back here.

Normally sound drivers are installed with an exe file. Not an inf file.

508972 2006-12-24 06:49:00 Does this (h10025.www1.hp.com) look like your PC?

And does this picture (h10025.www1.hp.com)

Look like yours Para?

If it looks exactly like yours, the first link I gave should work with your soundcard.

The mobo looks like its an Mb manufacturer name: ASUS A7V8X-LA

And according to the Belarc log u posted.

512 kilobyte secondary memory cache Board: ASUSTek Computer INC. Kelut 2.02

Is what it says here (h10025.www1.hp.com)

508973 2006-12-24 07:08:00 Thank you so much,
I have installed the driver listed on your last response, however still showing not device under control panel, sound properties/volume.
I went into My computer/comp management/services and application/ not sound listed in there.
as I mentioned on my original posting I actually had some item listed there, and there was and exclamation mark attached to one of the item listed there " unknown item.
What do you think?
parapa05 (11651)
508974 2006-12-24 07:14:00 Is this unknown device still showing in device manager?

Did u reboot after u install the soundcard drivers from the link I gave?

If u go to sounds in control panel and the audio tab, can u change the default device to anything now?

If so, what?

Have u got some kind of USB audio soundcard as well?? Besides the onboard soundcard?
