| 508933 | 2006-12-23 08:34:00 | Came across a second hand PC today that doesn't reboot. It starts from off fine. Its a fresh install of XP, SP1. ASUS socket A board, 512mb DDR266, 2200+ CPU, Seagate 80GB IDE, 1 ASUS CDRW, 1 DSE Combo drive, FX5600 graphics. Works perfectly ok, just does not like to do a restart. It starts to then sits there with the monitor LED flashing green on off. It does have a nasty 350w Hyena PSU in it which I recommended they change. Don't thinks its dodgy at present, just don't trust them. Or maybe it is dodgy? Reset BIOS, no affect, BTW. Its a new second hand PC... |

Jen as well - -it does the shut down part without trouble. Its a fresh install, he hasn't installed all his apps and stuff yet, I have only put AV and AS on. Its when it has started to load back up it stops. Just before you normally hear the monitor kick in it stops. When you do a cold start you hear the monitor do its little pfft and come on and loading continues. On a reboot - whether that was restart from within Windows or using the reset button on the case - it stops at that exact point. It all works beautifully otherwise.......... |

Windows will throw a wobbly when it discovers that all the hardware is different to what it had on the previous machine and won't boot up properly at all, never mind restart. :rolleyes: |
