| 511095 | 2006-12-30 22:06:00 | I've got a PC here that took a hit from a 11-33KVa power surge caused by vehicle vs pole ( BTW the pole won ) It boots but the modem is fried as it tests earth and injects a great noise into the phone line. To that end I have installed a replacement pci modem in the same slot, however the computer now posts but won't boot when the new modem is installed. Any suggestions? |

| 511097 | 2006-12-30 23:31:00 | Also does the computer posts if the modem is not installed? That's the weird thing it boots with the old damaged one installed yet it'll only post if I put a new one in :groan: |

| 511098 | 2006-12-31 01:31:00 | Update I've tried two modems from other machines I have and in both PCI slots on the fried machine, in all 4 possible variations it posts but then hangs & won't boot. Looks like the motherboard is toast as well. |
