510620 2006-12-29 04:49:00 Hello,

i recently bought a new cpu (AMD Sempron 3300+ 2.0ghz) and I tried overclocking it. This is the first time I've overclocked my cpu and i only raised my ghz to 2.25 is this normal? I only changed my FSB setting. because I've herd of people getting their 2.0 up to 2.6.

cheers for any help

510621 2006-12-29 05:42:00 Can somone please tell me how do i go about overclocking what do i do to to change the speed. im currently running a pc at 2.8ghz and have a dual core processor. Hitech (9024)
510622 2006-12-29 05:56:00 I guess I am conservative but I view overclocking to be a bit like running a car engine at beyond the recommended RPM. It is a risking business (is it not?) that may take it's toll on hardware. johnd (85)

a good choice for a low end cpu, you need to raise the voltage of the cpu core by a little otherwise overclocking will not be stable

510624 2006-12-29 06:54:00 its not very risky if you read more about it and you get more for what you pay for JUST INSANE (6682)
510625 2006-12-29 08:38:00 Here is a Link (forums.anandtech.com) to a thread on how work out the ceiling of your overclock. SolMiester (139)
510626 2006-12-29 08:42:00 To overclock you need to go into the bios during booting normally push DEL key JUST INSANE (6682)
510627 2006-12-29 11:45:00 Adrian, The Sempron 64 3000+ (1.8ghz) can go to 2.2ghz with out a voltage change normally, so yours should go a bit higher before it needs a voltage change. Also you should probably get a 3rd party fan with cooler, I don't know what specific model would be good for that but I know Zalman make good coolers+fans.

@Johnd; It's more like taking a car and tuning the engine, and adding preformance parts. For example the 4L I-6 engine in the Ford Falcon AU comes standard with 210bhp, but with tuning and performance parts can push 300bhp (400bhp if you had expensive mods like a High stall converter and Diffs). Just like how a CPU at, say 3ghz can go to ~3.6 with a bit of Overclocking bur can go even higher with more careful overclocking.

510628 2006-12-30 02:42:00 what you tried was a 25% overclock thats a hell of a lot.....you need to start small and work up till it dont want to go then back off a little also watch the system temps ....and you need ram that will handle it.....cheap ram doesn't overclock too well.... drcspy (146)

So can I overclock my Primera engine just by changing a few system settings. :waughh:
