510606 2006-12-29 01:03:00 Dear all. I have got plentiful of graphics manipulation programs such as Adobe Photoshop 6.0, Adobe Illustrator 9.0, Paint Shop Pro 7, PhotoImpact 6, but I don't know which and how to use to create mouseover images for website navigation purpose (e.g. an image of "Home", "Downloads" etc.). Could someone please enlighten me on this matter? Thanks!

Cheers :)

510607 2006-12-29 01:22:00 Hey James :)

What HTML editor do you have?, have you got something like Macromedia Dreamweaver or Microsoft FrontPage?

PS: Adobe Photoshop 6.0 should also be able to do mouseover images as well as using an HTML editor

If you IM me when you can (& I am around :p :D) I would be happy to help you out :)

510608 2006-12-29 01:47:00 All you need are 2 pics, one for the original and one for the mouseover bit.

Some code for it here
www.w3schools.com

(but convoluted)

must be easier code somewhere

510609 2006-12-29 01:59:00 The way I've done it in the past (for a vertical navigation bar on the left of a webpage) is to load the images into an array, then have "light_up" and "turn_off" functions. It's then easy to add more buttons if you want ot extend your website. davehartley (3487)

My question is "how to create those pics in the first place". :D

I will talk to you on MSN then, stu.

510611 2006-12-29 03:59:00 Try this too..... www.annabella.net

.........and it would be enlightening to me if you kept this on site as we can all learn something if we can look over your shoulders.

rollover button program

Careful with that rollover site....here's the changes to the registry it makes:

ADDED TO REGISTRY.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\Free Buttons.org]
ADD DisplayName="Free Buttons.org"
ADD UninstallString="C:\\Program Files\\Free Buttons.org\\uninstall.exe"

I think this makes it next to impossible to remove unless you drill thru the registry and clean it out there when you want to remove it.

I suspect anything that removes it's own uninstaller!

510615 2006-12-29 05:02:00 Code that I have used:

<p align= " center " >

<img src= " images/heading.png " width= " 800 " height= " 80 " ><br />

<a href= " noticeboard.html "
onMouseOver= " document.images['link1'].src = 'images/noticeboard_over.png' "
onMouseOut= " document.images['link1'].src = 'images/noticeboard.png' " >
<img src= " images/noticeboard.png " name= " link1 " width= " 120 " height= " 25 " border= " 0 " ></a>

<a href= " " " target="_blank">www.naccq.ac.nz
onMouseOver= " document.images['link2'].src = 'images/NACCQ_over.png' "
onMouseOut= " document.images['link2'].src = 'images/NACCQ.png' " >
<img src= " images/NACCQ.png " name= " link2 " width= " 250 " height= " 25 " border= " 0 " ></a>
<a href= " AssessDates.html "
onMouseOver= " document.images['link3'].src = 'images/dates_over.png' "
onMouseOut= " document.images['link3'].src = 'images/dates.png' " >
<img src= " images/dates.png " name= " link3 " width= " 180 " height= " 25 " border= " 0 " ></a>

</p>

To produce a page looking like www.aorakipolytechnic.ac.nz (although I think I may have added a bit to it - BTW HTML is my sideline :>)
