510834 2007-01-03 00:38:00 I always keep my downloads in a special Downloads folder as these programs are useful to use again for computer maintenance .

Regarding SP2, that is quite a large download and I would be installing it myself as it contains quite a few essential security patches . Whether it interferes with your Office installation I wouldn't know .

<<<Edit: Are you referring to Windows SP2 or Office SP2? They are two entirely different updates . I was referring to the Windows SP2 update . >>>

Have you tried activating Office yet? It will work for 30 days without activation then become a little bothersome if not . . . . Just a friendly warning . ;)

510835 2007-01-03 00:42:00 No, not if its installed now, but did it need installing?

RegSeeker doesn't get installed but run from the extracted EXE file. If dunno deletes regseeker.exe she won't be able to use it again. The regseeker.zip file may be deleted if desired, however.

I 2nd that . Just checked the Office 2003 updates on the spare partition . 140 or so mb  Don't fancy getting that again, ( on dialup), if I decide to format anytime soon .

And most probably 100mb + for XP

Ah ha ok . I've never use regseeker, so I wouldn't have a clue .

510837 2007-01-03 06:55:00 I had the office professional disc for around 6 months with no problems, and was still ok, when the rest of my computer was not so well.
I have a home computer so probably I was referring to Windows SP2, the only reason I have Office professional is that is was given to me, because i really wanted microsoft outlook, because i wanted the tasks and calendar.
and i have publisher and access and excel and word just the extra bonuses.
I am going to do the windows updates now wish me luck.

510838 2007-01-03 07:25:00 I suggest you use the recovery CD creator from the HP recovery tools installed on your computer - you never know when your hard drive might die, or you won't be able to boot into windows & it will be a lot easier to recover from if you have the recovery CDs.

If your copy of Microsoft Office is pirated & you have to buy your own copy, you will have to decide how much Publisher & Access are worth to you - Office basic (the cheapest version) comes with Outlook, Word & Excel. You have to buy a more expensive version if you want publisher & access.

I'm fairly sure there is a lot more than 100mb of post SP2 updates now not counting non-critical updates.

Dunno - when you check for updates after installing Service pack 2, can you tell us the total size of the updates? From memory, it tells you the total size next to the install button when it shows you the summary telling you what you are about to install.

510839 2007-01-03 07:31:00 Hi Greven,

I have just checked for updates and it tells me there are 66 updates including Office 2003 Service Pack 2, total download for all this is 160.2mb total d/l time one hour 16 minutes, should i do this??

510840 2007-01-03 07:57:00 Hey Dunno
Do yourself a favour and go to a local computer shop and get then to fix it for you..its starting to sound way to complicated to fix for the average Joe or Joanne.

It would be a good idea to download them, as they are mostly security updates that could protect your computer from being exploited. If that is too much to download at one time, I suggest getting Internet Explorer 7 first & downloading the rest as you have time & bandwidth.

If you use windows update in express mode, I don't think it gives you the option to deselect updates - you have to use custom mode (which gives you more options, but isn't any harder to use)

It sounds to me like Dunno has fixed his problem with the help of several forum members & now all that is left is the clean-up.
