511179 2006-12-31 01:25:00 Hi C. My first move would be to identify where the pics are mislaid or are hiding. Do a wee search via Start > Search for one of your known folders which you had stored within the original My Pictures. Call back when you have identified its present location and we can create a suitable main folder as suggested by Foxy and drag all of the newly found files across to it. Generally, unless you have specifically deleted them, they will be around somewhere. Scouse (83)
511180 2006-12-31 01:46:00 I know where my pics are S.in start ..my pics.,just that the my pics from start and my pics from my docs, used to be one and the same, but not any more. Cicero (40)
511181 2006-12-31 01:55:00 Hi C. No offence old friend but your pics are not in Start > My Pics. That is just a shorcut to the Folder where they reside. You need to establish the true folder's identity as suggested earlier by Jen - when she advised of the need to find the Folder's path.... Once you identify that, you can then view the present location using Windows Explorer and drag any wayward Folders and or Sub-Folders to where-ever you wish them to reside. Scouse (83)
511182 2006-12-31 02:14:00 And Cicero, as I tried to explain in my half-arsed way... it is likely that you actually have two 'My Pictures' folders and just don't know it.

Do the following:

click on 'My computer' then 'Local disc C' then 'Documents and settings'

This will bring you to a window that shows icons for different users, for instance my window shows an 'all users' and a 'me' icon.

If you click up the top of the window on the 'folders' button it will change the view in the left pane to an explorer view showing a list view of all the items/folders on disc.

You will be able to see 'documents and settings' and if you double click on it in the left pane it will expand to show another list with 'my documents' etc... but- there is another 'my documents' entry further down below 'local service' (mine shows as 'ME' docs) and if you double click to expand it you will find another set including 'my pictures'.

I suggest that you click around in the explorer pane to expand things until you get the hang of it. You can't do any damage so long as you don't try to move/delete any folders and if you want to collapse the list just select a folder in the list, right click and select 'collapse'.

When you get the hang of it and find the different 'My pictures' folders with and without your photos in them, as Scouse said you can drag your photos to the correct folder (I would copy them over in the first instance if you're unsure even though it means you will have double lots of photos on disc, you can always delete one lot later)

Easy eh :D... whew

511183 2006-12-31 02:29:00 Cicero, try this...

Go into your start menu like Jen said, instead of clicking on properties in the menu from 'my pictures' icon, click on 'explore' in the drop-down menu. It will bring the 'Start menu' pictures folder up in a new window and the correct path to the file will be in the address pane at the top ie: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Pictures
(Following Jen's instructions will not show the whole file path!!)

Go to your other 'My Pictures' folder from My computer/My documents and look at the file path in the address pane and they should be different.

If you write the two different addresses down you should be able to find them both in explorer and move your photos around.

511184 2006-12-31 03:36:00 Do a search for My Pictures and see what comes up... FoxyMX (5)
511185 2006-12-31 03:38:00 Go into your start menu like FoxyMX said, instead of clicking on properties in the menu from 'my pictures' icon, click on 'explore' in the drop-down menu. It will bring the 'Start menu' pictures folder up in a new window and the correct path to the file will be in the address pane at the top ie: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Pictures
(Following FoxyMX's instructions will not show the whole file path!!)

Ah, that's the one I should have said - Explore, not Properties.
