2006-12-29 22:19:00 | OK, I figured it out. Windows will only display comments that have been created in Explorer's Properties, not those created with third-party apps. :groan: :( <mutter mutter curse curse> Luckily it works the other way around though - the third-party apps can see the comments created in Explorer and by other apps.

2006-12-29 22:42:00 | Download a EXIF editor. Opanda. I had great success. Its trial only but the basic things work without payment. After a trip I had to change the time cos I forgot to change the international clock when overseas :) You can also add your own details as well. Opanda PowerEXIF

2006-12-30 00:50:00 | Hi folks. Probably teaching my granny to suck eggs here but I use Windows Explorer for adding comment to special pics. Using View > Choose Details and Comments puts the Comments column in the standard WE pane. Right clicking on any pic and then Prioerties > Summary > Comments allows the description of the pic. Using WE, the pics in any folder can be sorted by comment. The Choose Details options allow for a great deal of ready information to be displayed, right from the basic of which camera was used, while the Properties > Summary > Advanced allows the display of more information than most people would ever need. Worth browing. | Scouse (83) | |

2006-12-30 03:53:00 | FoxyMX have you looked at Picasa? http://picasa.google.com ? :) Though I have used Picasa in the past I much prefer FastStone Image Viewer. Just had another look at Picasa's features, however, to see whether it can do what I want and discovered that it can create IPTC standard captions which got me interested. Researching further I found this page (www.rideau-info.com) which looks rather promising. Will now have to do some experimenting. ;) I got to learn a few more new things today because of your suggestion, so thanks Stu.

2006-12-30 16:20:00 | It doesn't with mine? Win XP Home SP2. If I enable the "Comments" in Explorer I can see them in one of the columns whilst in Details view, but can't see them when hovering the mouse over a pic. It shows the resolution though. Are you sure yours does that? I mean for comments the user has added, not the EXIF information, which I can see. It does on my "Win XP Home SP2" system. Thanks Speedy.:) I didn't know that either.
