That message may mean the files for windows update haven't been registered, so the system can find them.

To fix this, do this:

To do this firstly click on the “Start” button then “Run” and enter the
following command into the “Run” dialog box

regsvr32 wuapi.dll

You should then receive a message to say it was successful. The above
process then needs to be done for each of the following commands:-

regsvr32 wups.dll

regsvr32 wuaueng.dll

regsvr32 wucltui.dll

regsvr32 atl.dll

regsvr32 msxml3.dll

Taken from here (www.microsoft.com)

Close the browser/s first. Then go back to the Windows update site again.

Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended)
Let me read about more steps that might be required to solve the problem

This is the message that is still coming up, I have tried the recommended one and done what you told me to but it is still not working, :waughh: :waughh:

510788 2006-12-29 23:48:00 Did u tick the entries in the hijackthis log??

And did trojan remover find anything?? Did u select the 3rd - 7th option in Trojan remover as well?

Reboot then see if u can get to the windows update site.

You did re-register all the files I posted right?

510789 2006-12-30 00:13:00 He has 3 a/v programs there, not just 2, Nortons, AVG and that other one?!!

Google indexing would slow the pc down too, I would uninstall the google search toolbar etc.

With Limewire, may sure it DOESNT start on windows startup!

Yes i checked all the boxes you told me to in hijack this log. Trojan remover found nothing, I have rebooted several times and I re-register the files
from run and then loaded the different files you gave me and they all came up successful.
I will go back and check all these things now, just to make sure that I did it all right. Thank you speedy I do really appreciate your help.

510791 2006-12-30 00:56:00 The only thing I can find that I have not done is this one

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_08\bin\jusched.exe" - uninstall this and get the update here

I did check it on the hijack list, but can not find it to uninstall it, I have been to programs and have found java, but do not know where to go from there.

I have been through again and checked that I have done everything, I will restart my computer and try windows again

510792 2006-12-30 01:22:00 It should be called Java (TM) SE Runtime in control panel / Add/remove programs.

Don't DELETE any folder, in C:\program files, without uninstalling it first. It'll stuff things up.

Is this what you've been doing ? (deleting folders)??

This maybe why nothing is working.

510793 2006-12-30 01:45:00 Hi Speedy

No i do not delete files from programs
Generally i go to add/remove programs, then after that i do a search and delete any thing that has the removed programs names in it.

I have gone to add/remove programs but it will not let me remove it is coming up with the same message as when i tried to uninstall nortons personal firewall.

The window installer service could not be accessed, this can occur if you are running windows in safe mode (which i am not) or if the windows installer is not correctly installed. contact your support personnel for assistance.
