510874 2007-01-05 07:17:00 Could it be Windows 95 with Office 97? You would be surprised how many people make that mistake.

510875 2007-01-05 07:18:00 Hello again

My daughter has been given an old computer windows 97, but i was hoping she would be able to put her Sims on it, but it requires windows 98
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get her of mine.

BackWeb is part of the HP junk. IT is spyware although not particularly nasty spyware. Let Spybot remove it, its less clutter anyway.

Your daughter would need a gaming PC if she wants to start playing games on it. For SIms it doesn't have to be much of a gaming PC but the O/S is the least of your worries. She would also need a reasonable amount of RAM and a separate (not onboard) graphics card.

There is no Windows 97.
There are:
Windows 95
Windows 98
Windows ME

510878 2007-01-05 10:04:00 Gosh back sooner then I thought, probably a whole 10 minutes break.

Now that I have got rid of back web thru spy bot, when I restart my computer, i get a message box saying..........

Runner Error Invalid Back Web application ID "137903"
What is this and how do I get rid of it??????

510879 2007-01-05 10:31:00 Seems this is a common problem caused by deleting registry entries for the HP Updater using SpyBot.

Read this:

h10025.www1.hp.com

Don't follow this, I posted it to give you more info on what has happened.

and this:

www.newbie.org

"i have a hp pavilion, and in reading the hp website they mention that backweb is not need... i think they have an article in there telling you other software that you can remove to speed up your system and clear out space. if you cannot remove backweb because you tried to delete it (or any other program) you should re-install the software, and then use the add remove programs icon in control panel. this will allow you to do a better job at removing the program, gets a little dangerous when you delete stuff without deleting all the necessaries in the registry. if you do remove backweb make sure you do your windows updates and check in with hp and search your machine to see if they have any specific upgrades"

TRY THIS SECOND, before doing anything, my assessment would be to try and remove the HP Updater using add/remove programs in control panel.

IMPORTANT:

I think that SpyBot keeps a record of fixes it has performed if you can find that in the SpyBot options then just undo the fix, TRY THIS FIRST.

510880 2007-01-07 09:17:00 Hi again,

I went back to recovery on spy bot and ticked all the stuff I got rid off, because it comes up in dark bold black, but now I am getting this message on start up.

Could not load the target dll("C:\Program Files\Backweb\Backweb Client\6.2.3.66\Program\Backweb.dll", error code 126)

I am beginning to give up on this computer caper!!!!!!

510883 2007-01-07 10:45:00 Oops I have just stumbled across Updates from HP after about 400 Security Updates thats why I would have missed it, I was only looking under H for HP not U for Updates

Is this what I need to remove?
