511976 2007-01-01 23:34:00 Hi all

My wife switched to Thunderbird (1.0.6) quite a while ago, and she has had a major problem with it the whole time, in that the message filters don't seem to work, and have never worked she can set a filter but it doesn't do anything

I have suggested she upgrade to the latest version But I cant find anywhere that tells me how to upgrade from an older version of thunderbird and she has heaps of emails, so we don't want to lose those, or her profile so i would like to back all that up first

Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated as i am still using Outlook, and therefore don't know much about thunderbird

Cheers

511977 2007-01-02 00:13:00 if you go to the 'help' menu, there is an option there to update. i have done this a few times and not lost any of my mail or settings. not sure if that will help your filter problem tho. but it can't hurt. you'll also get the lastest security cover with the update.
cheers!

511978 2007-01-02 00:28:00 There doesn't appear to be an update option in the help menu for this version

Although it seems i may have fixed the messsage filter problem

511979 2007-01-02 00:33:00 Why not try the web site? Just updated mine, no problems, in fact the new version automatically arranges the folders for ease of searching! limepile (96)
511980 2007-01-02 00:34:00 There is no update option on some versions and operating systems but if you go to:
www.mozilla.com you will get the latest version and it will
install and keep yr settings.

511981 2007-01-02 00:34:00 You can make a backup of the emails by merely making a copy of the Thunderbird profile folder. You can get a program called MozBackup which will also do this for you - see here (http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/). Jen (38)

i have updated my wife to the latest version and it all seems to be working fine

one last thing

Is there a decent calender for thunderbird, one that integrates with it and doesn't require launching a separate program

And Lightning is the extension to link it into Thunderbird.

511985 2007-01-02 07:37:00 Thanks Coldot

Wifey has just told me she wants something simple, she has previously used Sunbird and didn't overly like it

so I am looking at Reminderfox (http://reminderfox.mozdev.org/) which seems to be closer to what she wants, now i just have to read up on it

Thanks
