511402 2006-12-31 20:31:00 Me again.

If I open multiple windows, FF tends to "stack" them, showing Firefox with 6 or 7 windows open. I hate that. Where do you change the settings so that one gets the non-stacked windows on the bottom bar?

XP, FF

Any reason why you are opening up new Firefox windows instead of using tabs?

511404 2006-12-31 20:39:00 Thanks for that Jen

Jen, I'm of the old school and too set in my ways - I've never learnt to use tabs and to be honest, would not know how to. Clicking on the file I want has always been my way. You saying that I can do the same with the Tab-button?

511405 2006-12-31 20:43:00 Not sure what you mean by clicking on the file, but in Firefox you can set it that all links (including from bookmarks) open in a new tab automatically. That is the beauty with Firefox, being able to use tabs instead of a new windows.

Just ask if you are unsure how to set up Firefox to always use Tabs. :)

511406 2006-12-31 20:45:00 OK I'm with you now. My problem with the tabs - I close the window too quickly, usually losing all the open tabs so my olden ways works best for me.

511407 2006-12-31 20:50:00 You can stop losing all your open tabs accidentally. I am not sure if this is part of Firefox by default or whether it came with my "Tab Mix Plus" extension, but it will warn me that I am about to close a window with X many tabs still open and asks me to OK or Cancel that action. I also can undo any accidentally closed individual tabs too which is really handy. :)

This is that extension I use which is really handy: Tab Mix Plus (addons.mozilla.org).

511408 2006-12-31 20:59:00 Yes Jen, I know, but my fingers are usually a bit too quick and before I know it I've clicked "yes" - and perhaps me not realising at the time I'm closing all tabs. My quick fingers came from the era of Lotus 123, where "slash" commands were the quick and easy way to go and I haven't quite lost that yet.
