1410446 2015-10-25 12:11:00 Hey everyone just recently i have noticing a problem with me wifi , the normal wired connections is fine , i see no issues . So the problem is new to , it has never happened before as to my view , when i run speed test via my two laptops and smartphone im getting low to very-low speeds . When the test begins , i notice it goes a bit fast , then suddenly there is a drop off .

My wired connection gets around 16-17 mbps currently , where wireless is the most 5mbps and thats the highest . From Time to Time i notice speed gets very bad , close to 0.89 mbps . Those speed are for Download , upload is also a bit low usually i get 0.90 mbps , now 0.79 or 0.80 mbps .

One thing to note down is , im doing a speed test from my bedroom and the Modem/Router is not far way , very close . When i go downstairs and do speedtest , i get good speed around 16-17 mbps , the normal speed and i found it is good because Modem/Router is right above me on second floor and i have feeling as the wall could be interfering the wireless and also my neighbours wireless connections too .

I just did test now and funny thing is the speed is back to a good speed . The Time was around after Midnight 1am 26/08/2015
I did repeat it Three Time's.

1410447 2015-10-26 09:09:00 Tried changing WiFi channel? Chilling_Silence (9)
1410448 2015-10-26 09:36:00 Hey Chilling Silence , yes tried that already , i put it on auto and when did speed test reading was not good or say any better so i chose the highest channel 13 which gave me the best reading , the highest possible .

By the way today i did speedtest again using laptop and smartphone , speed was good around 15/16mpbs but throughout the day it did drop a little but not too much .

Thanks

1410449 2015-10-26 21:19:00 Welcome to the wacky world of wifi.
First thing to do is change the wifi password & channel. Dont tell anyone the password, no point speedtesting if others are connected up to it & streaming whatever.
Try pointy the wifi acess point somewhere else, change orientation of the arial & see if that helps . All clutching at straws though. :-)
Try turning off (or on) 5Ghz

There are just so many things that can effect wifi Its just the way it is . Some sites just never have reliable wifi.
You will just have to go through the process of elimination, 1by1. Being an intermittent issue will make it quite hard.
Could be one device on wireless-B dragging all to to B, 1 device using all the wifi bandwidth, interference from any sort of 2.4 device, could be trying to connect to wrong access point , could be bad positioning of the AP, wifi router or Arial may be faulty, could be 1 nearby non legal 2.4 device causing issues etc etc

I have 1 customer who's wifi becomes unusable as soon as her neighbor comes home from work, neighbor must be running some dodgy/illegal 2.4 gear .
She had no choice but to use wired only (via a powerline kit)
