1410239 2015-10-20 01:44:00 Hi There

Can anyone recommend a program to recover 'missing' email from an Outlook Express dbx file ?
I think this is after the famous hit the 2Gb limit & inbox gets corrupted saga .

Free would be good(as if, ha) , otherwise something that allows preview of the files it can recover in full paid mode.

Cheers

1410240 2015-10-20 03:10:00 I've used this in the past with a few clients:
www.emailadept.com
US$29.95 for a license

That was for when the client hit the 2GB file size limit.

1410241 2015-10-20 03:53:00 Similar Program to above ( $2.95 cheaper) :p https://outlookexpress.recoverytoolbox.com/ Got both the Outlook Express and Outlook versions, paid for its Self many times over. Works beautifully, and the trial does allow you to see what can be recovered first before paying. wainuitech (129)

1410243 2015-10-20 05:46:00 :punk:spam:clap Why the Spam Icon ? Its all legit software.

Just used Outlook version last week, recovered over 8GB of a corrupted .pst file.

The outlook Express Business License version was purchased in 2007, and been used countless times.

Sorry it was a joke. Was making fun of the $2.95 cheaper price. :D

1410245 2015-10-20 20:50:00 Im just trying them now.

It doesnt look like they show sub-directories under the inbox.
The issue is, the inbox root dir has 3 years missing, the inboxes subdirectories are OK.

The recovery programs are finding files from the inboxes sub-dirs , these files arnt the one I want as they accsseable anyway.
So I dont really know if the 'recovered' files are the ones I want or from the readable sub-dirs (unless I spend alot of time checking 'recovered to see if they were from those sub-dirs)

:badpc: LOL yep, get that all the time, don't you know there's a few magic ;) quick couple of keystrokes that will easily fix everything :D

Most of those recovery programs should show whats actually been overwritten as well, and is actually unrecoverable. They should put them in the directory structure as long as they are OK to recover, if not :
A Lot has to do with whats actually happened, if data is over written, failed sectors on the drive etc.

Note:Those pieces of software are good for general recovery, BUT "IF" the data is that important then it needs to be sent to a data recovery business. Just got one back, the drive had millions of failed sectors, as well as failing write heads :( - took a few weeks but the place in Auckland had to send the drive to their Aussie headquarters where they have even better equipment - they managed to get roughly 95% back even from failed sectors. BUT it cost $$$$

Most people when they hear the cost freak out -- Its not so important after all.
