1409956 2015-10-16 03:27:00 I have been a fervent Windows updates follower i.e. updated daily if updates are available..
I always do manual updates -not automatic.

In the last few days I have unticked the preticked box "Upgrade to Windows 10".
The Optional Updates now show e.g. 2 but do not list them separately.
If I decide to risk it and proceed "download" I find "Windows 10 downloading so have to cancel the download.

This week there are 7 Important Updates -112.2 Mb.
I selected all 7 and it shows on screen prior to download "7 important Windows 7 updates selected 112.2MB."

I select Download and instead of them I get "Windows 10 Upgrade is downloading" so again I have to cancel the download.

Has anyone come up with a way to defeat Microsoft's latest sneaky move?

1409958 2015-10-16 06:45:00 Don't worry about it so far I have found nothing suspicious from using Win10, it sends nothing back to MS if set up correctly and runs way faster on this dual core duo setup than Win 7 did gary67 (56)
1409959 2015-10-16 18:30:00 All this crap in updates, forced installs, spyware etc.
Beats me why anyone allows updates at all.

Maybe because some (most) are actually good security patches or bugfixes?

Compared to the large quantity of useful updates, the Windows 10 ones are only a small handful. It's not hard to get the list of offending KB numbers and just not install them...

Beats me why anyone would not install updates, at least the security ones...

Yep, seems like if we want to use the OS, then we agree to accept whatever big brother sends us & has access to on our systems.

Since I turned off auto updates on W10 on both my computers I have not had a single problem. I chose a time when all was well then turned it off. With W7 I always had a look at updates on offer and selected the ones required. W10 does not have this option I turn it off altogether.
