1409832 2015-10-13 20:17:00 This morning I received and installed one of the usual Android updates, and when the tablet rebooted after the usual interminable process of optimising apps, I received a screen saying Android v6.0 - Marshmallow - was available for downloading; all 772Mb of it.

Thus far all seems to be working well. It claims to extend battery life (amongst other claims) - I hope that will be true, because the current battery life of my HTC Nexus 9 isn't all that flash.

The little flashy and bouncy coloured lights at startup have been replaced by what looks like an Australian Aboriginal dot painting that eventually resolves into "android". Quite nice, but I hope the update has more substance than that...

1409835 2015-10-14 00:44:00 Alas, I have all Samsungs. So I will be stuck on jellyBean forever :-( 1101 (13337)
1409836 2015-10-20 10:26:00 i installed it on my Nexus 9 and Nexus 5.

My nexus 9 has been good with battery life, but on my Nexus 5, i have noticed much longer battery life.

On one charge of intermediate use, i got through two days which is impressive

1409838 2015-10-20 23:08:00 I'm wondering...how does a Samsung Galaxy get "invited" to upgrade? Greg (193)
1409839 2015-10-20 23:10:00 I'm wondering...how does a Samsung Galaxy get "invited" to upgrade?Depends,if you have the latest flagship model you will have to wait for the Telcos. If you don't have a flagship model you are probably out of luck. Or you could get rooted. plod (107)

If you've got a Galaxy, you'll be waiting quite a while. If it's not a high end Galaxy, forget it.

1409841 2015-10-21 01:38:00 I've always updated, but my Nexus 7 (2012) makes me regret it. It runs like a dog on 5.1 so now I'm dubious about upgrading a perfectly functional tablet.
On my note 3 I just had to do a factory reset to get google search working after it updated itself and broke. Android is not immune to rolling out buggy updates it seems.
