1409823 2015-10-13 12:59:00 I'm wanting to buys something like this

www.pbtech.co.nz .

I currently have two hard drives . One is a 2tb and the other is 3tb.

Currently have lots of family and friend photos for over a decade or 2.

I want to be able to access the videos and pictures by powering all the hard drive at once so I thought of getting a 4 bay enclosure.

I see this drive have raid compatibility and my understanding of raid is that it duplicates the video or picture across multiple drives?
I think the setting called "clear raid" disables the raid function?

Is there a possibly to disable raid or is there anything I should look at?I'm mainly just gonna be copying data to and from out of the enclosure using usb 3.0?

1409824 2015-10-13 20:39:00 More info please, a bit too vauge

I'm assuming those 2 HD's have all you data on them . Or are they just 2 empty HD's
Are those 2 drive in a PC at the moment, or are they USB drives, loose unmounted HD's or something else
Are you after additional HD storage ?
How do you plan to backup all that data, regardless, it needs to to backed up a 2nd external drive

A raid enclosure is NOT the same as a USB hard drive encloure
Be VERY carefull here, put existing drives into a raid enclosure & the raid setup may want to wipe them

1409825 2015-10-13 21:30:00 Just something you may want to also consider:

I want to be able to access the videos and pictures by powering all the hard drive at once so I thought of getting a 4 bay enclosure. That particular unit would have to be connected to a Computer directly to have access. If you wanted to have access over your LAN with other computers / Devices, then it would have to be setup with shared folders and be reliant on that one computer Being turned on.

Its not a NAS with a Ethernet Port. Of course it may be able to be shared via connecting directly to a Router with the USB cable, if the Router is capable.:2cents:

1409826 2015-10-13 22:33:00 I have two 3.5 inch hard drive full of match which at the moment is plug into a docking station so I can access the data.
I just want a enclosure where I can access all the drive at once and able to transfer to and from the hard drive onto a pc using usb 3.

Hope that makes sense?

1409827 2015-10-14 00:52:00 Something like this?, buy 2 of them

Also, dont rely on an external hard drive as the only copy of the data. Important data needs to be stored on 2 separate devices: ie backup to another HD
