1402106 2015-06-06 04:10:00 As previously mentioned, my lawnmower was stolen in the second burglary at my house. It was actually my g/f's machine on loan to me. Well, she made a claim for the loss through her insurance broker, and lo-and-behold, they accepted the claim, despite the fact it wasn't even on her property at the time! But wait... there's more!!! They not only covered her the loss of the 2nd hand mower which she'd bought years ago for only $300, they purchased on her behalf an almost $900 worth brand new top-of-the range machine from a local dealer who imported it from Australia! It's a shiny 175cc Rover mulch mower with a seriously sophisticalis Kohler engine! This machine is a thing of beauty and I'm blimmin reluctant to even use it for fear of making it dirty! Greg (193)
1402107 2015-06-06 06:28:00 The Kohler engine is the Rolls Royce of lawn mower engines. Will last for ever if given an oil change yearly You just cant get a better engine. Rover along with Lawnmaster (Made in Parmy N) very good bodies and hopefully they aren't made in Communist China yet. prefect (6291)

I think the Honda motor is the Rolls Royce of mower motors and quite to-boot.

1402110 2015-06-06 19:58:00 @ prefect - that's good to know. The engine itself was built in USA, under license from Germany, and the rest I think is made in China. The whole thing was then assembled and sold via Australia. This info is just to the best of my knowledge.

@ Cicero - the quiet motor would be a bonus... This Kohler boasts to be quiet but isn't. Mind you, that's pretty subjective.

@ Lurks - she uses a broker (Crombie & Lockwood) so I can't say for sure which insurance company was used. I'll endeavour to find out. But they must be good, because recently they also approved a claim to have her pool filter unit replaced (value at $1400 incl labour)... all she had to do was prove that it was uneconomical to repair. The former was under her home contents cover, excess $100, and the latter under her house cover, excess $400.

1402111 2015-06-06 22:23:00 Crombie Lockwood have been around for yonks and are highly respected in the Insurance industry. It isn't the prerogative for the Broker to approve claims, the onus is on the Insurance Company to approve but do take into consideration any story put up by the Broker. Bryan (147)

Worked for the National Insurance back in the 60's and used a broker.

Have been with SIS now AA for a long time and they were good to us pensioners', always a small excess, otherwise very good company.

Don't know what AA will be like, only hoping they will be as good as SIS.

1402113 2015-06-07 03:57:00 the rest I think is made in China.

Made IN China and made BY China are 2 different things.
Most things are made in China.
