1402333 2015-06-10 08:27:00 If they dont like the state houses and cant afford to heat and ventilate them causing mould go live in a private rental at full market rate. Dont be obese, smoke, have heart problems, 6 kids, no job and make it the governments problem.

Much as I normally don't side with Prefect, I with him on this one.

1402336 2015-06-10 11:23:00 I thought that HNZ rents were market rents. Whenu (9358)

If you are on a low income it's not.
If you get work and the income goes over a certain amount, it is. But then they generally encourage you to move into a standard rental anyway.

Saw a client Monday in a HNZ rental - 2 bdrms, $120 a week rent.
She's on $243.85 a week.

1402338 2015-06-11 02:50:00 Hey most mold is 1* Dust related 2* Lack of basic ventilation. therefore lack of basic house keeping is the reason. Leaking houses are another issue and any house State or Private Rentals should be repaired urgently as no one should live in a leaky home. Arnie (6624)
1402339 2015-06-11 03:30:00 Hero of the week goes to Nick Smith ....and I hate to say that.
For having the balls to speak some truth, knowing the backlash it will cause
for having the balls not to repeat some newsbites that have no basis in ACTUAL facts

but wait, theres more..it seems
for we all know that being cold or being in a damp house is a sure killer . Thats why Im writing this from beyond the grave as my house is cold & damp.
God help those in the SI, as its so cold down there compared to Ak, how could anyone possibly survive.

I think we need to step back & think over the reality of things.
Cold house, well Isnt that what blankets & jumpers are for ? Am I missing something here.
How did people survive when those houses were built 30-40 years ago.

Damp house, opening windows during the day & digging an open drain around the house really helps.

Labor had how many years in office to do something, yet didnt. Lets blame them instead. Or did this issue not exist 10 years ago?

I caught Pneumonia last year while I was in Hospital for surgery. It was dry and warm. Pneumonia is not caused by cold damp conditions, it is a bug like the flu or a cold. I am getting increasingly tired of people expecting everyone to supply them with the necessities of living. If you are not satisfied with your living conditions, get off your butt and do something about it.

1402341 2015-06-11 04:25:00 My wife and I have worked all our lives, paid taxes, and have never had a Government funded handout.

Are we the idiots?? :(

Are we now expected to subsidise those lazy bastards who won't get off their arses and do an honest day's work?
