1409966 2015-10-17 00:16:00 I have yet to see proof they protect against anything.
years of cleaning out fully patched PCs while my unpatched one sat happily malware free taught me that.

1409967 2015-10-18 02:14:00 Many thanks for directing me to the link, ruup.

I note the "Microsoft reply" which carefully skirts around the issue rather than fixing the issue.
They do the same with Rules in MS Outlook 2013 despite all the critical comments on forums saying
"done all you suggest but Rules still do not work as they did in 2010 and earlier versions."

Depends how you use your computer.
You could argue a seatbelt is unnecessary if you drive very carefully. And indeed the opposite applies, it doesn't mean they will save you if you drive like an absolute nutter.

But that doesn't mean seatbelts are useless.

.

Seatbelts aren't a comparison.

How I use it? Well I guess I don't click on popups or things that want me to download them to improve my PC.

Common sense mostly.

1409970 2015-11-12 02:29:00 look at your list of MS updates and find KB3035583
I deleted this and now get no nags or persistent "window" in the task bar.

Doesnt work for long. It will come back.
Even if you uninstall & then "hide" that update .
MS have been re-releasing it , so it will just come back through via Winupdates again, and again , even if you had marked it as hidden.
