512369 2007-01-03 09:03:00 I'm using opera mail and also tried using Thunderbird

Im with SlingShot broadband and I have a paradise and orcon email account as well but SMTp is set to smtp.slingshot.co.nz

When I try to send an email it gives me a message saying to try later because there's too many concurrent smtp connection.

What is causing this?I'm only sending one email

512370 2007-01-03 09:48:00 It sounds like Slingshot's smtp server is overloaded.

Try sending your e-mail latter on & if it keeps happing often maybe e-mail / ring up Slingshot & tell them :)

Also have you tried another e-mail client? Like Outlook Express ( Just to make to rule out Thunderbird)

512371 2007-01-03 09:49:00 I have struck this a week or so back.

Seemed to fix it by restarting the computer. I suspected there may have been an infection with it's own mailer program. After a few scans with Anti-virus, Anti-Spyware and rootkit programs, there was nothing to be found. It hasn't occurred again, so the cause is still unknown with regards to my experience.

512373 2007-01-05 06:13:00 Slingshot: absolute rubbish.

I have this problem too, it has occurred in the past but has been most prominent for the last week or so. Outlook either times out waiting for a response from the Slingshot SMTP server, or it says "too many concurrent SMTP connections".

My friend, also on Slingshot, has the same problem.

All day yesterday I was unable to send mail at all, until the late afternoon when the collection of mails built up in my outbox finally cleared themselves.

The bad thing about this is that it seems that sometimes the messages are in fact sent, with Outlook being none-the-wiser. This results in multiple copies of the same message being sent to the recipient, as Outlook dutifully retries sending, again and again. Yesterday morning I found about 30 copies of the same message from my friend. My own messages are similarly affected.

This is a major problem for business mail and I have already had several e-mails from clients and partners questioning why I am bombing them.

Slingshot, get your heads out of your collective ****!

512374 2007-01-06 02:16:00 Bump - because it's still happening and I'm annoyed it isn't fixed yet.

Prospective Slingshot customers beware!

512375 2007-01-06 02:57:00 Look in control panel / admin tools / event viewer. Under system

Tell us what the event ID is.

Hopefully, its not the same as Event ID 4226, which is what SP2 does, it lowers the amount of ports that can be used at any one time.

And what happens is if it goes over ten concurrent connections, some programs will have to finish what they're doing before another program can use its port.

512376 2007-01-06 03:05:00 It has nothing to do with the client software Speedy, it's Slingshot. badmonkey (11714)
