512846 2007-01-05 20:53:00 At some stage i intend to get a laptop as well,
but as far as personal choice goes, i think sticking to the os you know is better because if you are studying you dont need the stress of trying to learn to fly your machine correctly before you use it. So id say stick with Windows. That doesnt mean im anti Mac's, just time isnt always an option.

Just out of interest what it the biggest screen size you can get on a lappie? and does the battery useage / hours that it last put onto the ad's? or does that minor point get brushed under the carpet so to speak?

Ive been a student, and the learning curve in a new field is often striaght up, no time to muck about if youre serious at what you are studying.

but thats just my opinion.

Good luck with the studies noone.

Still looking.

Just wondering

How does the Turion 64 X2 (i assume thats 64bit, so i will be operating vista 64bit - if i go windows), compare with the Core 2 Duo's?

Vista will be 32 bit initially I think. You will actually be able to go Windows regardless. The Core 2 Duo would be the preferable. They run cooler so don't need so much battery power for cooling.

512854 2007-01-08 10:09:00 FWIW the next Mac OS for Apple known as Leopard v10.5 and due to be released this northern spring will actually run on any current Intel Mac without requiring the purchase of a new "Leopard ready machine". It will also support both Windows and Mac and probably Linux. winmacguy (3367)

Vista is being released simultaneously in 32 and 64 bit editions, so it's up to you to choose what version you want (if you buy it retail/oem, not bundled).
