| 512816 | 2007-01-05 05:16:00 | Hi People. Im going to university in a month and im looking for a laptop under $1500, the thing is via pricespy and DSE, there are heaps of models that come within my price range and i dont have the time to go through them all. Can someone suggest the best laptop under $1500 (inc GST). Specs - Nothing under 1.6GHZ 512 megs ram + 60gig HDD + Wifi DvdRw And ideally - non integrated graphics (im hoping, wat im looking at atm all seem to be integrated) Also, will any product i buy now with xp preinstalled come with the vista downgrade coupon thing? And no a MacBook would be approx $2,000 which would be over your budget even though maintenance and security wise it would be far less trouble than a PC. But that is just from my experience. ;) Under $1500 I doubt it will have the grunt to run Vista if and when you get it at the end of the year. |

How is Windows emulation on the latest macs? Using Parallels in OS X (Unix Based) Windows runs faster on a Mac than it does on a PC while running OS X at the same time hence the name. OS X light years advanced from OS9 (Classic) which I actually started on. OS X uses standard TCP/IP networking and utilises Samba (re Linux) which is much improved over Classic which used Apple Talk which PC networks Hate with vengance. www.apple.com |

It is from a previous PC user who recently converted so he probably thinks like you do. www.lifehacker.com You save yourself a heap of frustration with no need to defrag, clean out viruses, you will be able to connect easily to the Uni network or to your parents PCs.... the list goes on. |

| 512825 | 2007-01-05 05:50:00 | why emulate when you can dual boot With Bootcamp you can dual boot or with Parallels which is now in its 2nd or 3rd Beta you can run Windows natively in parallel with OS X so for the 1 or 2 programs that are Windows only you use Windows for the rest you use Mac and still open Windows files. |
