512746 2007-01-04 22:50:00 I run AVG Antivirus on a couple of home PCs, but support/updates for the free version of this antivirus software is ending this month so I'm looking for an alternative free antivirus program. Any recommendations? xmojo1 (4630)
512747 2007-01-04 22:53:00 I currently use AVG Free and have just downloaded the 2007 Free updates. I use Ad Aware and Spybot also aswell as Kerio personal firewall (Free) and haven't had any problems with them. winmacguy (3367)

I get the popup informing about the AVG 2007 update but haven't actually clicked on it to find out more. You say this is a FREE update to the existing AVG software on my PCs? If that's true then I can continue to use AVG free.

I googled AVG FREE. ;)
The pop up from AVG on my system took me to the pay site.

512754 2007-01-05 01:46:00 Just to add to the mix, I use www.avast.com

Pretty hard to know if one is head & shoulders above the rest, I suspect they're all much the same. Add in a free web-based scan with a different one now & then like www.kaspersky.com & alls well for me, no matter how many dubious sites I visit

512755 2007-01-05 01:54:00 I find that Firefox - or any browser OTHER than IE tends to limit the amount of crap that can find its way onto XP from "adventureous" web browsing. Fortunately it is only XP that gets affected by crap from web browsing. :) winmacguy (3367)
