2007-01-04 04:24:00 | My Gainward Geforce2 MX400 64Meg video card is causing me some GBH. I am running win2K pro on a P4-2.53 with 1 Gig ram, a 17" Phillips 107T. The local suppliers (very few) are trying to tell me that there is no replacement for this card and that i need to buy a enormous ($400 plus) video card. I do office work (Excel, Word) only, a little photo manipulation and interrnet email and mozilla browsing. My motherboard doesn't support PCI-express, the above Gainward is plugged into the AGP slot, not sure if it is 8X or 4X. (does that matter ?). What would a reasonable replacement card be for the above situation ? The above card worked with no noticable problems before it blew so 64 to 128 Meg seems a good size. Any advice will be warmly welcomed, I will probably have to buy over the Inet so hope that my current card lasts that long ! TIA, Phil PS. The Mobo is AGP 8X according to the specs. PS. A/V out might be usefull but not manditory.

2007-01-04 04:41:00 | Where r u?? In NZ?? You can get an ATI card for just over 100. With dual DVI / VGA adapter / video out And 256mb. Just because u have a geforce doesnt mean u have to get the same card if u want to replace it. Just as long as its AGP. I used to have Nvidia based cards, but the drivers got too crappy, I biffed them and got ATI cards.

2007-01-04 05:55:00 | Hi Speedy, Been there, done that. Trouble is both give a whole bunch of numbers that mean nothing to me. I get no idear if the cards mentioned are compatable with my old one or my system. :-((

2007-01-04 07:00:00 | If it says AGP it'll work. Even if its 8x, and the slot in yours says 4x, it'll still work, but only at 4x.

2007-01-04 07:03:00 | My Gainward Geforce2 MX400 64Meg video card is causing me some GBH. GBH? As in, Great Big Headache:confused: ? If that's so, what's wrong with your graphics card? Anyway, it might be worth your time checking out Trademe (http://www.trademe.co.nz) as well. Cheers :)

2007-01-04 10:56:00 | If you could get this one (www.trademe.co.nz) for 25 bucks it'd be an improvement. Or go back to Pricespy and select the cheapest AGP card, or whatever suits your budget - after a quick look anything there would be an improvement.
