The system is filled with VIRUSES and no antivirus down there installed in it....

Telll me how i can stop the system from restarting when type the commands in RUN as well as how can i cleanup the VIRUSES that r in STARTUP i found a MSDOS based file in startup whose properties r not accessible and eventhough i delete it was reloading (which can be stopped by editing startup objects)...............

512447 2007-01-03 19:26:00 start it in safe mode then you'll be able to attack it....... drcspy (146)
512448 2007-01-03 19:26:00 things you could try

boot into safe mode try and do what ever youre trying to do there
download, install f-prot (this is a cmd line virus scanner, free the last time I checked). Install simply means unzip into a directory on c:\. Do a f8 boot choose the option safe mode cmd line only navigate to the f-prot directory the run the exe.
install avg free in safe mode and run
download Stinger or A2 and run these both are trojen cleanersGood luck

512449 2007-01-03 20:06:00 slave the harddrive into another pc and use the other pc to scan the harddrive. tweak'e (69)
512450 2007-01-03 21:38:00 Use a bootable CD with the AV programs on it.
If you don't want/feel like making it, one can be downloaded from ubcd4win.com/ (you will need your XP disk for this one) or a DOS style version http:

512451 2007-01-03 22:07:00 Or u can get ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com), install and run it in safe mode.

And hopefully it'll run so u can click on the startup tab and delete whatever is causing the prob..

Sometimes it is better to reformat the hard disk if it has come to the stage where it is badly ridden with malware. If you have a hard disk filled with 80GB of data, then it is going to take hours to perform a virus scan.

Do consider reformatting the HDD - it is going to take less time to perform than scanning it.

Cheers :)

in the last five years I've maybe had to do this twice and during that time i've performed thousands of malware removals.........it wont take too long to run a scan unless you have a very slow pc.........as for formatting the hdd taking less time......well sure it takes damn all to format then you got to re-install windoze and ALL your apps/settings/import the mail etc etc etc this can be quite time consuming indeed and can easily run to three hours.......

512455 2007-01-04 07:13:00 Hmmm... you may have a point there, but from experience, it takes my AVG Free Edition Antivirus at least 2 hours to completely scan my 60GB of data.

Anyway, my point is that if the HDD is so (pardon my language) screwed up with malware, then reformatting it maybe one of the alternative options.

Cheers :)
