513434	2007-01-07 04:11:00	Hi, I have been using Wifi trying to transfer a file across and then burn a DVD with it. When I copy via the small files it works. When I try to do a 1GB file it times out and then says network has changed or something like that or not located. It tend to fluctuate, from 30min then up to 200hr and then gives up. Reception is about a 36Mbit. One computer has a Wifi card. The other is hard wired to the router. One computer is upstairs. The other is directly downstairs. The connection I gather would go via the window .... Any pple had success transferring large files with wireless? Thanks.	Nomad (952)

513436	2007-01-07 04:27:00	I have no problems with large files via wireless even with WPA2 and AES, mind you I am using a good quality AP and card. Can you give the maker and model numbers of the WiFi gear? Most common problem with large file transfers with WiFi is overheating from lots of Tx.	ughnz (8297)

513438	2007-01-07 04:36:00	Linksys WAG54G ADSL wireless router. Linksys PCI card on other PC. Ok have you checked the Linksys website for firmware updates for the WAG54G as there is a known issue with the older firmwares that cause your problem.	ughnz (8297)
513439	2007-01-07 04:45:00	I checked the router before, none available. Checked last week, when I set it up. I am using the BB internet to download as well as this, would this affect it? I put it via again, for 4GB. Had it for 5mins, its bouncing between 85-90 minutes. Edit. Checked downstairs a moment ago and it said 48Mbit. This one upstairs has no wireless card, just the router. I would be inclined to think that it is an overheating issue with the PCI card, assuming you have checked for updated drivers for it as well? Also are you allowing windows to manage the PCI card or are you using the Linksys management software? have you check that both are not trying to manage it?	ughnz (8297)

Not sure what to expect for file transfer speeds for wireless. 40mins to go as of now. If you are having problems with keeping a constant connection then try letting windows XP manage the PCI card. The supplied linksys software is normally for win98/me/win2k. If you are having problems with the transfer rate then you may need to 'tweak' windows. Google for DrTCP and don't forget to 'tweak' all PCs on the network. Also do not forget that WiFi tends to be very 'burst' orientated and very rarely does it maintain a constant transfer rate and this will cause progress indicators to 'bounce' around a bit. Also factors such as your fragmentation & RTS threshold and mixed vs single mode will effect things.	ughnz (8297)
