513455 2007-01-07 03:06:00 Download it / buy it online.

It wouldn't matter if u buy Ultra or Premium, they're basically the same. One's the UK version or something, the other is U.S.

513456 2007-01-10 21:32:00 Hi Speedy. Thanks for the reply. Sorry about the delay in this answer. I did not buy online because I didn't have a credit card. However I have since applied for one and in anticipation have downloaded three versions of Nero being Nero 7.5.9.0a_eng.exe (Demo) ,7.5.9.0_online , and 7.5.9.0_all_no_atb.exe.
Unfortunately they all extract a heap of files but end up with the a host of "Crc failed in......." messages. The error dialogue suggests I look in the information window for more details - except that I can't find this window. I have tried opening other downloaded files on my system and they all open perfectly so I don't know what the problem is with Nero and where to look next.
I run winXP, win firewall, avast antivirus and they all appear to be working OK.
Can you please suggest what might be the problem and what I should do about it.
Thanks a lot.

513457 2007-01-10 21:42:00 NINJABEAR Thanks for your PM. Sorry about the delay in this reply. I tried this with the result I have set out to Speedy.
I am quite frustrated with this situation when everything else seems to work but not Nero.
Any ideas of where to look.

513458 2007-01-10 21:46:00 If u were in Auckland, I could give u a copy. I have it on a spare partition here.

Try cleaning the hdd / temp files with ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com)

It'll get rid of the crap on the hdd.

I'm using the same thing - Avast and Comodo.

Sounds like u may have downloaded it, and some part of it is corrupt.

Hence the CRC error.

Umm, have u scanned for viruses etc?? Could be something like this thats causing these errors. If u think you got all of the file.

Post a hijackthis log (www.merijn.org)

From here (www.merijn.org)

Unzip this file first, then run it click on scan and save a log. Copy and paste the log here.

You're not using a motherboard that has the Nvidia firewall onboard r u??

This will definitely give u errors, for any file you download.

513459 2007-01-10 22:52:00 I did a virus check and also ran chkdsk and all seemed ok. My mainboard is an AMD Albatron according to the box. My browser is Firefox 2 and I am on Xnets slowest broadband. Successfully downloaded and ran Highjack this - can't figure out how to attach it here. teakonga (3257)
513460 2007-01-10 23:05:00 Close the browser/s before u run HJT .

Unzip it run it and click on scan and save a log . notepad will pop up with whatever the log has in it .

Select all in notepad, and copy, then come back to the forum, right mouse / paste the log here .

513462 2007-01-10 23:47:00 Hmm u may have something similar to / or which is part of this (www.symantec.com)

Run HJT again tick these entries and tick fix checked. Close the browser again.

O3 - Toolbar: Seekmo Toolbar - {53E0B6E8-A51D-448B-B692-40B67
B285543} - C:\Program Files\Seekmo Programs\Seekmo Toolbar\SeekmoTB.dll

I would also install some kind of firewall.

I would get Spybot (www.spybot.info)

And the detection updates, install both and do a scan with it.

Look in Add/remove programs, see if there's an 180solutions entry, or something similar here.

Uninstall it. Also look for Nvidia firewall. Any entry for this here as well?

513463 2007-01-11 04:06:00 Speedy.
I carried out your suggestions including checking add/remove. No funnies in there. Spybot gave me a heap of things which turned out to be cookies . Got rid of all those and tried to open one of the nero downloads with the same crc failed result. All I am getting out of all this is a headache so I'll leave it for a while. Thank you for your help.
