It's something to do with the IDE I think. Possibilities to me are the motherboard, hard drive, or maybe something to do with the power supply. If i disconnect the power plug from the hard drive the light stays on, if I unplug the IDE cable it goes out. If I leave the IDE cable in & reconnect the power plug back to the hard drive, intermittantly I hear a click as if it's discharging static & the hard drive light goes out. It doesn't affect the operation of the system. It's something that has just happened in the last week or so. The next time I switch the system off the light will be back on.
