512995 2007-01-05 21:37:00 Hi, I have two PC's hooked up to each other through a router...PC 1 has a cd drive, but PC 2 doesn't. Is there anyway to "share" PC 1's cd drive with PC 2 such that I could access the cd drive from PC 2? If so, how do I do this?

Thanks!

512996 2007-01-05 22:49:00 Right mouse on it / sharing and security.

Don't know if it'll work properly or not tho.

512997 2007-01-05 23:04:00 Its the first time I have ever heard of sharing a CD drive. I usually just swap between machines if there is only one available. winmacguy (3367)
512998 2007-01-05 23:24:00 I do this as well: Dad's PC is the only one without DVD support. pcuser42 (130)
512999 2007-01-05 23:25:00 Speedys idea will work, i use it.
Just share the drive like you would a normal folder.

513000 2007-01-05 23:25:00 CD or DVD maybe ok. A burner OTOH maybe a different matter. Speedy Gonzales (78)
513001 2007-01-05 23:28:00 From my reading of the first post, all that is wanted to be shared is a cd drive? Dannz (1668)

True but to some people a cd may mean a burner too. Or even DVD / burner.

Even if they don't know what it is. Or what it can do.

513003 2007-01-05 23:33:00 thanks guys...well it's a cd/dvd burner, but I just want to see if it will work, I will try to do what speedy said later and i'll post the result! Thanks again! g1sk8terz (11725)
513004 2007-01-05 23:34:00 It depends if you want to burn cds/dvds from the other computer, or just use files off it. Dannz (1668)
