512990 2007-01-05 20:14:00 Hi,
At the moment I am with Ihug on their Broadband 3 plan.
I pay $49.95, $59.95 less $10.00 as I put my tolls though Ihug
I have been a broadband for 1 and half years but yesterday I received
a email telling me I exceeded my 10Gig limit and am now on dail up speed
until the 12th
I notice that Slingshot offer a $49.95 servise with a 25 GB data allowance.
Slingshot Ultra Plus 25GB. and that’s without any toll servise.
That is a big difference between 10 and 25 Gig, am I missing something ?

However I like to hear from others who have changed over to Slingshot, was it worth it or did you regret it.

Thanks
Paul

512991 2007-01-05 23:13:00 Don't expect much from Slingshot. The price shows this. Don't expect to play any online games/watch video's/sensitive data like p2p or any other data other then web or email.

I would stay with iHug unless you have patience some of the time with Slingshot ;)

512992 2007-01-05 23:21:00 I've been with SlingShot nearly two months now currently on MAx/128Kbps
25Gb plan

I have had no problems with them.Gaming was fine.No lags.

P2p was quite good too.Achieving 60Kbps per torrent

I disagree. There pricing is about the same as other providers. They did used to be a budget supplier, but they ae now on par with other providers, and are the 2nd or 3rd largest isp in nz. You therfore should expect the same type of quality connection as voda-hug. You do also have to pay an additional $10 if you don't have tolls with them.

I have been using broadband with them for about 6 months. There have been problems such as outages and disconnections, however these issues have been affecting other isps too. They do also traffic shape, but so do other isps.

Ihug aka vodafone are foreign owned, while slingshot is nz owned, so at least the money you are paying is largely staying in NZ.

512994 2007-01-06 08:39:00 I have been with slingshot for a year and half, and it has been good if not excellent. They did have disconnections once every week before but for sometime now, the service has been pretty good. I am with the Ultra Plus (25GB with Max download/128 Upload) and enjoying every bit of the 25GB data cap. Downloading movies and TV shows mostly and music. I do the speed test everyday (www.nzdsl.co.nz/speedtest) and I get around 3MBps at anytime of the day. So for now I can say that I am getting the most out of my $50/month.. ronyville (10611)
