513363 2007-01-16 06:31:00 just a quick question before I rip my PC apart again...would having the HDD set on "cable select" as opposed master/slave have any affect on slow bootups? just got everything back together but have the "sneaking suspicion" that HDD may have an incorrect jumper set? worth a try maybe? cheers devo (6058)
513364 2007-01-16 06:36:00 Could be. Put it on Master or slave and put whatever IDE connection its on on AUTO in the BIOS.

Also make sure its in DMA mode not PIO which will make it go slow.

cheers, just doing a bit of reading now and sounds like it COULD be the problem, which would be great if thats all it was, it was a new drive and im not 100% sure, but had a glance at the jumper then put everything back together, so will pull it apart again and check everything out :-)
