2007-01-06 10:03:00 | Hi Guys I'm new to this forum as I only just discovered this site after furiously googling solutions to my problems - zilch so far. I was wondering if you fine folk may have a solution because this is driving me NUTS! I've searched the forum for the same problem but couldn't find any. I recently purchased a PlayTV Pro 2 PCI card because it said it had video in and could play consoles on the card. I've also heard of people on the net doing this. I soon realised it had no audio in's but went down to DSE and got an adaptor to put these two plugs into the line in on the onboard sound. However, on trying the software I can't get anything on the video in or audio in! I get no screen from the PS1 when I click on Composite (just the blueness of doom) in the honestechTV bundled software. I've checked that the playstation is going etc but it's just not working! The audio in is also not picking up any sounds when I tried it with sound recorder. ALSO, to add further annoyances, the sound will now only work if i have the program going and leave it on composite. If i don't have honestechTV going i can't get sound unless I unplug the cable that goes from the tv tuner card to the soundcard and put the speaker plug back into the soundcard. Sorry for the long first post guys, But I really really would appreciate any help you can give because the main reason I bought this card is so I can play xbox on the pc without having to lug a TV up to university with me. Thank you all and thanks for the great site!

2007-01-06 10:22:00 | Is this the tuner ( . ascent . co . nz/productspecification . aspx?ItemID=344097" target="_blank">www . ascent . co . nz) Whats the yellow/blue/box on the side for?? Is the bigger box thing a din plug connector?? For input? Which input is the sound?? And the video in input? Also if u use XP, did you go to control panel / sound / audio tab / sound recording and tick line in?? This SHOULD give u sound once u tick it and move the slider up a bit . Thats if you've plugged the audio out from the tuner to the right connector on the sound card (the blue plug) .

2007-01-06 10:32:00 | Hi! Thanks for the fast reply Yes that is the card. There is no din plug.. it has a yellow video in, s-video in and then a line in one which is specifically done to run a little cable from the speaker plug on the sound card to this line in. None of the inputs are for sound i do believe.. unless .. i'm thinking maybe i should just plug the red and white av leads into the line in on the tv tuner but then maybe i can't hear anything lol. The line in one is already selected and turned up buy still nothing.

2007-01-06 10:37:00 | ok that made the playstation work lol! awesome. But! now i don't have normal pc sound ... any ideas? | BoWzA (11709) | |
2007-01-06 10:43:00 | Same place as before but the sound playback default device . Volume button . Is volume control slider up? And the wave slider up? You don't have a fax/voice modem do u? Check the default playback device under the audio tab . Click on the > (pointing down) . Any other entries here besides the sound card?? If it shows a modem, change it to the sound card for playback and recording .

2007-01-06 10:46:00 | nope no other entries and all the volumes are up. I'm thinking the sound is gone because the speakers are plugged into the tv tuner card and not the sound card. However, i don't see much of a way around this. Do you have any ideas? Can't believe i'm playing PS1 on my PC lol | BoWzA (11709) | |
2007-01-06 10:51:00 | Ummm, sound should work even with the tuner audio out going into line in on the sound card, like the tuner here also has to be plugged into line in. Since the speakers will be going into line out, from the sound card to the speakers. You sure the speakers are turned on? If they go by power? Plug the speakers into the line out (middle connection on the sound card) not the tuner. You should get sound then.

2007-01-06 10:55:00 | Uh i took that cable from the soundcard to the tuner out and put the line in audio into the tuner. That's the only way i could get sound and hence get the console to work on it. The speakers are going because i am getting sounds from the console lol just not the pc. When i put them into the soundcard i get only the pc sound and no console sound | BoWzA (11709) | |
2007-01-06 10:57:00 | Yer thats right the audio out from the tuner goes to line in on the sound card. Thats how u get sound from TV once u use it. But the line out from the sound card there shouldn't be anything in it. This is where the speakers get plugged in. Plug the console cables into line in on the tuner not line out.
