| 512982 | 2007-01-05 20:18:00 | Just read a news on ZDnet talking about hybrid hard drives and Vista's ReadyDrive feature. Are there any hybrid hard drives in production and where do I find them? I'm building a new tower at the end of the month for Vista and am planning to use two 160MB hard drives with a RAID 1 configuration. | BrotherDragon (10117) | ||

You should probably check out the CES show starting in Las Vegas Next week since loads of new and amazing stuff will be announced there. www.cesweb.org 160MB sounds pretty small. Did you mean 160 GB? Personaly Id wait till the end of the year before trying Vista. I haven't seen anything in it that would warrant an upgrade apart from the fact that it looks flash. Also it is not always advisable to get the newest version of any system that has just been released, too many bugs! Stick with Windows XP in the mean time it will give you better value. |

I don't do much multimedia and in fact was intending to have two 160Gb hard drives in a RAID 1 configuration for data safety. I can always keep stuff on DVDs. If hybrid drives are going to become common soon I might go for a temporary solution with just one drive at this time. | BrotherDragon (10117) | ||

But I'm interested in playing Neverwinter Nights 2 and Elder Scrolls:Oblivion so I'm ready to buy new hardware-E6600, 2GB RAM and an interim video card until the DirectX 10 cards become more affordable. | BrotherDragon (10117) | ||

Paste the link in your browser searchdatacenter.techtarget.com I have a feeling that there will be a few systems who will adopt it in the next year or so since computer users are starting to use their systems for home entertainment setups with collections of DVDs and the like. |
