513814 2007-01-08 02:23:00 Ok, im VERY confused about how vista works so here goes..

1.) Whats the best version and how much will it cost?

2.) What are the advantages of the better version of vista?

3.) Will i have to re-install everything on my computer when installing vista?

On the side note when does Direct x 10 come out?

...thanks guys.

There is no "best". It depends what features you care about:
The highlights:

* RAM maximums: 4GB in 32-bit, in 64-bit: 8GB in Home Basic, 16GB in Home Premium, and 128GB in others

* No Tablet PC features in Home Basic

* Limited Windows Mobility Center in Home Basic and Home Premium

* No Windows SideShow in Home Basic

* No Parental Controls in Business or Enterprise

* Media Center only in Home Premium and Ultimate

* Home Basic gets Movie Maker; Home Premium and Ultimate get Movie Maker HD

* Themed slide shows only in Home Premium and Ultimate

* No new Vista premium games in Home Basic; not installed by default in Business and Enterprise

* Windows Fax and Scan unavailable in Home Basic and Home Premium, and installed by default only in Business

* No new Windows Backup in Home Basic

Yes you have to do a complete reinstall.

DX10 comes with Vista. And only Vista. There is no DX10 for any other O/S.

513816 2007-01-08 02:40:00 1) the best is Ultimate and according to Ascent it retails for $831.22 and is expected to be instock on the 30th... so it has not been officially released as yet...

2) It includes all of the stuff that the other versions have in them... (Look Here (www.microsoft.com) for more info on the included stuff)

3) Yes, you will. I it exactly the same as a full wipe and reinstall of XP (or other OS) just changing the OS...
