| 513730 | 2007-01-07 23:02:00 | After repartitioning my HDDs and reinstalling Win XP, I've come to the point where I want to reinstall IIS. I did have this running perfectly before my rebuild, but now I seem to have made an error with my permissions somewhere along the line :illogical Basically, IIS has installed fine, but when I browse to my default home page, I have to give my Windows username and password in order to view the site. I've looked through the security settings of the directories, and it all appears to be fine -- all users have browse rights to the Inetpub directory, while the IUSR_MyComputer user has denied-write privileges on the wwwroot folder. I'm at a loss here ... can anyone with more experience than me tell me where I need to be looking? :help: |

| 513731 | 2007-01-08 00:00:00 | What type of pages are you trying to serve? I ditched IIS ages ago in favour of WAMP www.wampserver.com | Rob99 (151) | ||
| 513732 | 2007-01-08 00:35:00 | I use it as I look after a couple of websites developed using .asp to interface with MS Access databases. I develop them using Frontpage on my home computer, then ftp the site to the web server. Like I say, it all worked perfectly before my cleanout :groan: |

| 513733 | 2007-01-08 11:14:00 | What can I say ... but "ooops" :blush: I finally found a page in the MS Knowledge Base that said that if there's no default homepage in the default web, it shows the /localstart.asp ... which can't be run as an anonymous user, you must be authenticated for it to run. <Sigh> :groan: So it was actually going properly all the time, I was just not thinking enough. At least it's going now :stare: |
