514977 2007-01-11 17:46:00 When did you get it and how much did you pay?
<Hint> it is probably worth less that half of what ever you paid for it. If you really want to find out, put it on Trade Me and see what you can get for it.

See me $100 I'll buy it. More than $100? I think I'll wait for the quad core CPU and prepare to pay thousands for it.

514982 2007-01-12 02:46:00 What something is "worth" and what it will fetch when sold are two different things.

The market value of a "new" computer drops considerably the moment it is removed from the carton. About half retail would be the most you could expect at auction. I doubt if you would get that much from a place like Cash Converters. This applies to almost all electronic equipment: most of it is "obsolete" in a very short time.

A computer is not an investment.

514983 2007-01-12 03:59:00 Thats a low spec comp from a craphouse assembler, If I was advising someone on purchasing I would initially tell them not to touch it with a 50 foot stick.

Secondly I would maintain they shouldn't buy it.

If they insisted then perhaps $400 max but I would suggest they didn't buy it......

514984 2007-01-12 04:21:00 Think we need an international currency standard. Quoting in New Zealand dollars when the poster doesn't mention what country they are from can cause confusion. :p Jen (38)
514985 2007-01-12 11:38:00 it's a dell, now i can see why you would sell it but who in their right mind would buy it?:p

$500 tops, it would be better if you sold the components individually, but being a dell you can't really do that:groan:
