515010 2007-01-11 16:46:00 Big hearted MR. Microsoft sneaked the upgraded(???) OE7 into my computer.
Now I regularly get messages like "unable to contact server" "enter your user name and password" and the worst one "downloading 3 of 10 e-mails" and then just freezing.
I have found out how to fix the freezing. Downloaded Thunderbird. When OE freezes I send thunderbird out for the mail. Works every time.

Now if TB only had a "Contacts" column I would remove OE completely. But if I did I would have to change "download updates automaticly" or Bill would find it missind and download it again.

515011 2007-01-11 19:46:00 You can't get rid of OE unless u use something like Nlite to remove the windows components u don't want. Then reburn the iso to a cd, and reinstall Windows.

Coz its so tightly integrated with XP.

That's why I put my updates on notify me but don't download, instead of automatically download.

It wont re-download it if it was on notify me.

It brings up the shield icon thing on the taskbar. And never heard of those error messages before.

515015 2007-01-12 06:39:00 Suggest use Thunderbird.
You can not only check pop mail, but also some other mails that doesn't support pop, like yahoo mail or hotmail...... from Thunderbird. Just download couple of extensions.
I am using it, save a lot of time.

515016 2007-01-12 10:58:00 use system restore to put the system back to before the 'upgrade'.......then DONT use the 'express' install on any updates.....use 'custom' and UNtick OE7 drcspy (146)

OK I see you are right. Anyway it's the latest update to 6. Arrived at the same time as IE7

515018 2007-01-12 19:39:00 I use Thunderbird myself, and added a splash screen to it and Firefox, just like OE. There may also be a theme so TB looks like OE. :) pcuser42 (130)
