But not for RAM in general.

514969 2007-01-13 10:19:00 How can you do that? What's your budget? I think the best most stable overclocking system cost at least $5000.

well i'm upgrading to am2, as my current 754 system has a habit of dying under stress (quite funny when hosting lan games, for me:rolleyes:)

the elitegroup (ecs) mobo i'm using combines 754 and pci-e, which is basically the source of my problems...

now, what i meant was slight overclock, later on rather than upgrade again, like that ram is suddenly alot cheaper if i can use it at 800MHz rather than buying the 800MHz stuff.

and $5000:horrified :groan:

i barely spent that on a car! and insurance was paying for that!

$800 all up, i've already found the parts, and am reusing my 6600gt, case and HDD from the current rig (6600 has been o/clocked 10% for about a day, but i don't think it exactly helped the stability/heat issue so changed it back:rolleyes:)

and yes, i will replace the 6600gt, but not quite yet

EDIT: actually, for the best stable system i'm sure i could spend more than $5000 :D

yes i am aware that corsair ram is expensive, but it is quality ram, with that o/clock potential

514971 2007-01-13 14:58:00 The Most fancy and over priced RAM I've ever seen is the Dominator version capable at overclocking at very high speed and not much retailers are selling them because they cost too much.
Hey anyone want to buy a Corsairs RAM at $999.00 for 2GB RAM at 1000MHz+? In reality for the gamers or people who have nothing else to do with their money.

hah. again, i find you trying to rip people off.

i own 2GB of Corsair DDR2-800 XMS2. paid around $700 (was told at the time that it was a little pricey)... Would'nt take much to bump it to 1000mhz...and its $300 cheaper than what your trying to fob off.

and that was 2mnths ago. so i bet its a little cheaper now.

What the heck are you talking about?

I run a rig with a Core 2 Duo (1.8gig) overclocked to 3.3gig, 100% stable and sub $2000 with 2gig of ram and a 7950GT (overclocked to GTX) (would love a 8800GTX :P). The sky is always the limit of course.

If you know how to do your homework you can get a decent overclocking rig for only sightly more than one you buy off the self with similar stock specs.

PedalSlammer is constantly putitng people wrong.

i spent 2500 on my system (in my sig), and it will take the new QuadCores. and every component is made for overclocking. incl Video card. My CPU is ripe for overclocking as i bought a new heatsink and its still running at stock speeds

Hey Master Frost,
Maybe you could help me build a decent overclocking machine for around $3000. I mean using Intel Quad Core CPU, Thermaltake Liquid Cooling case, etc. Do you think you can do it? And Using Asus Striker Extreme MOBO.
